“Camden is one of London’s most popular filming destinations”

This is Yoo Capital’s opening salvo- manipulating the middle class into thinking they are part of a groovy, creative scene.

But we’ve seen the grim reality- Kentucky Fried Chicken’s takeover of Queen’s Crescent Library.

Apart from the crass design, we should be very wary of accepting what Yoo Capital has to offer.

“Each year, hundreds of filmmakers choose to return to the borough’s impressive selection of diverse filming locations”…don’t we know it!

YOO CAPITAL buys, develops and owns buildings across London, and specialises in working with communities to create inspirational spaces.”…and then after a few years it flogs it off to the highest bidder.

So what are Yoo offering?

“In April 2023, Yoo Capital acquired the Holmes Road Depot and Regis Road Recycling Centre on a subject to planning basis. This means that Yoo Capital will own the land if and when planning permission for a development is approved. “

Let’s hope that never happens. The disruption to Camden’s Council depot building, newly refurbished with £8m of tax payer’s money, is not worth it. We need this facility to remain functioning. There is no information provided by Yoo about what they are planning to do with the services that we depend on for the maintenance of our homes. Camden Council has also remained silent on this issue- they are complacent in jeopardising the service.

As with the Murphy Site development Kentish Town City Farm gets hammered with the high rise development- up to 15 stories. This will blight the farm just as badly as the Murphy scheme proposed to do.

Camden Council does not care about the impact on the people who live in Cressfield and Woodyard Closes, who will be overshadowed by the scale of the development.

Here is the Commonplace platform consultation site where you can tell Yoo what you think.
