The quick brown fox

“What a mess!

All that imported stone, unexpected changes of level and the supposedly artsy looping white lines wandering up and down the street. Scandalously wasteful, incompetently designed and putting the clock back in terms of accessibility. Who in Camden specified and commissioned it? And how could so much money have been wasted on such a mess – despite the local community repeated warnings? It’s like a paper exercise in streetscape design that takes NO account of human occupation and use, or the community that has to live through and with their legacy.

Camden needs to learn from its mistakes instead of defending them or trying to cover up by demonising local voices. And that doesn’t event mention the carbon emissions involved. “

“The QC ‘development’ well illustrates the elite contempt for working class community bonds.  Elite planners presume superior expert knowledge to remedy the latter’s deficiencies (or absence).   If local people do not adapt to the new structures, then it further indicates their deficient will or capacity to fulfill the planners’ image for a better future. This is the main lesson that they learn, if any lesson at all, and so proceed to repeat such plans in more places.”

“I am so angry at what they have done. It is infantile.”

Extracts from the Camden New Journal and Ham & High:

“Someone, somewhere, is making a lot of money out of this.”

“I am very cross with them. My council tax is going up, but they are wasting money on things like this. They should be spending money on things for the community.”
