Gillian Tindal’s book, The Fields Beneath, gives an in depth history of Kentish Town from the Middle Ages to the 1970s. The last chapter tells the story of community resistance to the compulsory purchase of people’s homes and the setting up of community facilities such as Talacre Gardens. It has recently been republished with an Afterword, reviewing what has happened since the 1970s.
