Stormy weather did not keep visitors away from Queen’s Crescent this Saturday. Many people were asking what is going to happen with the old Dreghorn Castle, now that William Hill have moved out.
The Dreghorn was once a popular meeting place for locals, especially the Irish community, with Friday night music and dancing. Now that William Hill- the bookmakers- has moved out there is an opportunity for the building to once again be used for sociable community-based activities, complementing nearby Queens Crescent Community Centre.

One possibility is a Market Hall for Queens Crescent. This idea has been looked at by the Friends of Queens Crescent, see Investing in Queens Crescent, or as a new community space, maybe replacing some of what was lost when Lyndhurst Hall was demolished (see Litcham Street and Carlton Street).
